    Level-Gauges

    What is a Level Gauge?

Level Gauges are instrumentation tools used to show the level of fluids in a process. Level Gauges consist of a machined metal body with an internal chamber and at least one front window to show the level the media is at, at that specific part of the application. The windows are made from specific high-resistance glass.

How does a Level Gauge work?

Level Gauges show the level of the liquid contained in the vessel by having an inlet connection at a lower level and an outlet connection at a higher level of the vessel.

What are the different types of Level Gauges?

There are many different types of glass and magnetic Level Gauges to suit all applications. Options include:

    • Reflex
    • Transparent
    • Magnetic
    • And they come with, or in:
    • Various Materials
    • Flanged, Screwed or Weld Process Connections
    • Customised Lengths
    • Pressure Ratings up to 400 bar

    Reflex Level Gauges

use light refraction and reflection to show the liquid level. These types of gauges do not require extra illumination other than daylight to see the level and can be used with most fluids and applications.

    Magnetic Level Gauges

are used to help prevent leakage and are great for corrosive, pollutant, poisonous, flammable or explosive media because of their ability to correctly show the level for these types of volatile liquids or gasses.

    Transparent Level Gauges

use two plate transparent glasses between the section where the fluid is contained. Fluid level is then found out by the resulting transparencies between the two media. If there is corrosive media through the process fluid, Transparent Level Gauges can be fitted with Mica shields for protection.

If you are unsure which Level Gauge is right for your application, contact a valve expert today for more information.

How do I know what type of Level Gauge do I need?

When selecting a level gauge, consider the construction materials that are compatible with the process media you are using and the type of application you are applying the valve to. You also need to think about whether the valve will be able to handle the operating temperature and pressure of the process. For more information on what type of Level Gauge you require and tips on how to maintain your valves, contact a Winnellie Valves and Process expert today.

How long does a Level Gauge last?
